It was the Chamber of Commerce, PM Exchange, Hillside Catering/The Bush House, 5-21-2015, address: 231 South Lycoming Mall Road, Montoursville, Pa.
This was only my second experience at one of these and if they are all this well done, and 'tasty', count on me for most of them.
When we arrived at this absolutely GORGEOUS venue, the cool breeze was blowing sending the scent of the flowering shrubs and trees through the air and pulling us in. This mansion was amazing! We took a tour of the whole building, restored and un-restored. Leslie and I could not get over all the detail of the architecture. Each bedroom had it's own bath complete with original marble sinks, brass fixtures, huge windows and even a sunken tub. Seemed like each room had a fireplace and unique features, like hidden doors, gobs of 'built-ins' and one of my favorites, a circular staircase with brass railings, open from top to bottom. I suppose because we were artists, we were given a tour of the hand-painted mural that went around the entire, original kitchen. (below). It was beautiful.
The best time of the evening, though, was sitting on the veranda, enjoying a glass of wine, feasting on shrimp, sir-fried with olives and artichoke hearts plus tender filet mignon cooked to perfection. The waitress staff brought us trays of goodies to sample like the best crab bisque I have ever tasted. All this while relaxing to the jazz quartet near to us.
There was a beverage station as you entered and every room downstairs featured various kinds of gourmet delicacies.
We met some interesting people and shared ideas of art, printmaking and business.
As they advertised, this would be a perfect venue for wedding receptions, Christmas parties, family gatherings and any other occasion where you would like fine food and a lovely setting.
We loved it!
