David has been a professional photographer for over 35 years. He and his wife Lynne operate becker.s photography studio which opened in the Newberry section of Williamsport. Four years ago they moved their studio to the Pajama Factory and have been inspired in the presence of other artists there, to explore other media as well as continuing to expand their art in photography. David is “back to his childhood” with his graphite work and has also began dabbling in acrylic painting and working in the clay studio. He is grateful to many of the members of the Bald Eagle Art League, and artists at the Pajama Factory for their encouragement and inspiration. He has participated in two Group Graphite shows at the Pajama Factory and has won various awards for his Photography and Graphite Works in both the Bald Eagle Art League and the Clinton County Arts Council juried shows.
About "Second Childhood", David says, "My art is not a conscious political or social statement. I leave that to other artists who are intrinsically and capably compelled to explore, share, and enlighten in such a way. My art is not realistic or even impressionistic. I have great respect and admiration for those artists, but it seems to be in my nature to go past the commentary, evident, and interpretive worlds and into a more playful and free place and in some works even a meditative space. My art is more about the release of the human and eternal spirit and a continuous cosmic floating dancing. Much like the exploration of a child, my inner child rediscovers a place where there are no restrictions of a horizon, or how a tree should look or how a building should stand. I just start with an idea and let the lines and shapes begin to develop on their own, leaving them free to roam, as I witness the evolution of the work. I am now unlearning many of the things that I have learned over the years and finding the unjudging, uninhibited, unfiltered, fearless visual voice of my childhood returning. Whoopee!!!
