Lynn Kibbe

Genetti Hotel and Suites Presents "Life's Roads" by Lynn Kibbe
Artist's Statement:
As an adolescent I knew that I wanted to paint. I didn’t know how; I only knew I had to paint; to communicate through art. Without the means of formal education, I continually researched, attended seminars, and studied other artists' works that I admire until going on my own. I wanted to depict in paintings what utterly moved me. At the point where I was able to create paintings from my own ideas, my life was enriched and my passion was fueled. I have always had a fascination with trees and animals and try to incorporate them whenever possible.
I produce the main body of my work using primarily three mediums; oil, watercolor or scratchboard. The characteristics of a piece determine which medium I use and the emotion I'm striving to evoke in the viewer. For instance, I may use watercolors for a soft effect, scratchboard for dramatic effect and oil for strong depth of color (each using multiple layering of application). The overall broad theme of my artwork is America (subjects that I love from all areas I’ve lived). My series include architecture, animal life (domestic and wild), floral and landscapes. My hope is that in creating artwork of what I love, those same subjects are what will appeal to and inspire others. My collectors know that I will always have new pieces in the aforementioned series.
I have won awards through prestigious art organizational shows. But the greatest reward of all is the privilege bestowed when a collector purchases a piece of my work for their home of office collection.
